Oh yes it is for the most part, sorry my annoyance was clouding my memory. The need for way too much tapping has been an annoyance with it for some time.
Agreed. I do have a couple of niggles with the forum's site (it doesn't handle scanning for earlier or later journeys very well in my...
I actually clicked on this thread because it has been happening to me! Really not a fan of the new app, it seems to need far too many taps to do simple things like change start/end stations and times.
This is all really informative, thanks!
So why is it that (officially) in this case an excess should be offered, whereas in other cases travelling without a valid ticket leads to sterner measures such as prosecution?
Thanks all! Just one question, What's the worst case scenario on getting stopped at the gate line at Cardiff? Some posts here suggest an excess fare, is that right? No chance (not even theoretically) of being done for fare evasion?
I had considered that, and my experience is that the gateline at Cardiff central is so busy they never even glance at your ticket. Still makes me uneasy travelling with a technically invalid ticket though... maybe I should just get over it!
Allo!
I have an advance single from Swindon to Carmarthen this weekend, but I've been invited to stop off in Cardiff and have lunch with someone. I realise that by the letter of the rules, I can't use this ticket at all, because stopping the journey at Cardiff would make it invalid (right?)...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I have something even more solid now - I didn't have a complete ticket for the jourey from Cambridge to Slough. This is because (to my surprise) contactless from Paddington to Slough is a bit cheaper than contactless from King's Cross to Slough. I guess it's like...
Yeah this was my worry about pessimistic journey times in my OP. Though to be fair cycling was not much faster! Taking into account unlocking and locking etc, it probably took me 30 minutes.
Yes that's right. But if all the way from Cam to Slough were seen as one journey, this could be seen as fraudulent or at least dishonest because delay repay is meant to apply to the entire journey.
