    Remote controlled drones for BTP

One early evening a few weeks ago, I was returning from Piccadilly on the Crewe via Stockport stopper. We made our scheduled call on time at Levenshulme on the up slow, but then remained at the platform. After a few minutes the guard informed us that all train movements had been stopped because...

Lewes derailment - Thursday 13th August

I know RAIB take great care in their statements. My posting about heat haze was in reference to a question about the UP line, not the down line that the accident train was travelling on. If RAIB have said there was also distortion on the UP line, I must have missed it.

Lewes derailment - Thursday 13th August

Difficult to tell but could the appearance of distortion on the up line be due to the effects of heat haze, it being hot and sunny at the time?

Avanti strike at Manchester Piccadilly Saturday Aug 1st.

Going back to the subject of this thread, I pitched up at Piccadilly in mid-afternoon on Saturday to get the first train to Stockport. It happened to be a Pendolino and left on schedule. The only difference at that time was that the gates normally controlled by Avanti staff were open. Did this...

    Northern Class 323 & 350 Cascade Updates

Might be what's booked. But last week, from RTT, there was a 323 on one of the Alderley diagrams on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

    Northern Class 323 & 350 Cascade Updates

323s are still operating some Alderley services. 323208 and 331102 were in charge yesterday. These diagrams seem to be self contained all day - and therefore are often first to go in times of disruption. No doubt with the arrival of the 350s there will be some shuffling around of units on diagrams.

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

Travelling on the 323s on South Manchester lines as a single person, you can usually get a seat, apart from the Stoke stoppers on Saturdays! A lot of the people standing in the doorways are groups of people who would rather stay together and talk rather than be scattered around the carriage...

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Anyone know what the problem was with 67008? Three hours at a stand somewhere south of Leominster and now being towed by a rescue loco to Hereford

Heat related disruption 8 July 2026 onwards

67008 + HD02 on 1V37 0830 MAN-CDF has expired somewhere just south of Leominster. Awaiting a rescue loco from Canton apparently to take it to Hereford where the train will terminate. Not sure what the problem is and whether it is heat related
