Reporting a rough ride as a passenger

I have used this once to report rough riding. I received a response within 48 hours advising me that no fault had been found but thanking me for the report. I've never had cause to report anything again but it was nice to know that Network Rail do take such reports seriously.

    Ember: Electric coach service

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago in the opposite direction, I was on SG72 NCD I believe.

    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

I'm not convinced there is the demand. The Scottish and British governments have offered to put up some funding to revive the Rosyth-Europe (Dunkirk I think is the aim?) ferry route, but there's nothing concrete agreed there with either DFDS or another operator. That might have a chance at...

    Ember: Electric coach service

Can't speak for Oban but it is very difficult to recruit on Skye for almost anything.

    Ember: Electric coach service

They've put up an advert on their Facebook looking for drivers on Skye this afternoon. Looking to compete with the 917 to Inverness? Stagecoach will struggle if they keep running the piles of scrap metal they normally do on that run.

    Driver > guard communication

At least it didn't come off at 125mph

    Least disappointing new Rolling Stock?

I remember when the 390s were introduced and instantly felt what an enormous step forward they were from the knackered scrap they replaced. The 385s, after the signal sighting issues were resolved, are also very nice.

    WCR - Jacobite 2026

Frankly I'd have pulled their licence for good after Wootton Bassett which could have been a most serious tragedy. That's not a criticism of Network Rail as obviously they need to balance the legal tests where as I, some bloke on a message board, don't have that issue. Regards the Jacobite I...

£2 fare cap comes to Scotland:

Really, really good news that CityLink are part of the scheme at least for me personally!

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

Good to hear that the west side of the station is re-opening. Pragmatism and safety should go hand in hand and I'm sure they have here.

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

Massive credit has to go to the fire service for saving the station. When I went to bed on Sunday evening it looked, to my untrained eye, that we'd be lucky to have Central still standing on Monday morning.

    What happened to Request stops?

The signalling system is based on radio messages, adding lights on poles would actually result in more engineering rather than piggybacking on the RETB system which has worked for decades.

Rules for transporting nuclear fuel trains through tunnels.

Dounreay were flying plutonium from Wick airport to the US a few years back. I think it was meant to be a big secret but you couldn't help but notice the large USAF cargo plane and the enormous Police Scotland/Civil Nuclear Constabulary convoy .

    What happened to Request stops?

If nobody has pressed the button or asked the guard for a request stop on the Far North Line then the train sails through at line-speed. There's a display in the cab that tells the driver they need to stop at Scotscalder/Invershin/Culrain etc. It doesn't interact with the signalling as the...

Scotrail delay repay - issue with BACS payment form?

Thanks for replying, I will do and report back when (or if!) I get a response.
