The new Edinburgh Haymarket appears to have been a step in the right direction. A far larger (inside) waiting area was added, as well as improvements to the shelters. Although, you could make anything look progressive compared to the old station.
M&S move in next year. There's a coffee stand (other side of barriers) and a cafe (platform 4). I'd imagine they'll try to fit a newsagents or something in as well.
I use it daily. It's such a huge improvement. There is actually space to wait inside now - the bit above the platforms is two or three times wider than the last one. No teething problems when I used it this morning (and they even gave out free cakes :)), and I imagine it will be even better once...
The old building will remain in use. You'll still be able to enter through it (useful for those going towards the bus stops on the other side of the tracks). You're able to find the plans if you search "haymarket station" here: https://citydev-portal.edinburgh.gov.uk/idoxpa-web/
Live Camera:
It's all rather convenient that this happens so close to the Rangers AGM (in which the Easedales will be fighting to keep their spot on the board). It has toxic Jack Irvine's fingerprints all over it.
Polmont, about 2 miles walking.
The bus I normally get has been cancelled, so I'm going to need to start driving (and Polmont doesn't have the best parking facilities).
