    I would say that train driving is not for everyone the shifts can and will get very tiring people say you get used to them but I've done 18 years and i'm not used to them I especially hate early turns. AL rostered is a bloody pain especially when the kids where younger something I don't worry...

    That makes perfect sense it's the distant signal that can show a red. I was missing that I kept thinking distant signal that cant show a red as in 2 aspect signalling here making the double block and Not Approachable at Red. Thank you everyone.

    GTR do them I can't remember when they are advertised. Google Go Ahead House in Croydon thats GTR's main office and ask to be put through to the HR department they will be able to help you.

    Where did you apply? and why would it stop you applying for this one? TOCs don't all get together and see who has applied for what and then rule them out.

    You should have no problem getting in to the railway other than waiting for them to recruit which can be a slightly long winded process as for progress there is plenty of scope to go up the ladder. I have worked in engineering but on the ops side, you should target the TOC's you want to work for...
