Avanti Website and Email showing different times

I should have said: the original sales itinerary a few days ago says the correct 13.10 time. This is a new itinerary email positioned almost like a reminder or an update the day before travel.

Avanti Website and Email showing different times

I have just discovered the same issue with a Standard Advance Single for tomorrow. I booked the 13.10 from Euston. The ticket in my Apple Wallet says 13.10 and the Avanti app says 13.10. Meantime I got an email from Avanti which includes the words “important” and “final” before saying my...

    London Buses Discussion

That’s bourne out in my personal behaviours. Over the years, as buses and taxis have got slower, I’ve increased my cycling and use of tube / train accordingly. A journey I do very regularly as an example is Canary Wharf / Mile End: 10 years ago I would always use the bus for that, now I cycle...

HS2 could cost up to £102.7bn and trains won't start until at least 2036

Great questions. Because both reducing the speed and reducing the train length have the effect of reducing capacity. So for e.g. London-Manchester or London-Glasgow journeys, will there be more or less seats than now? And if the answer is less, how can it be said that the North or Scotland are...

    East Anglia Bus Scene

I was in Chelmsford briefly yesterday. A black single decker with “P&R” on the display passed me on the Parkway - followed shortly after by a double decker also in black with P&R on it. So I guess it’s not resolved. I’m not local at all so others will know more.

Increasingly sad state of London Underground trains - graffiti and disrepair

Having been out and about on the Central every day this week, I’m also pleased to see the big improvement in interiors. The exteriors seem to be the current ‘canvas’ of choice, with some trains extensively attacked. (Photo is of a heavily graffitied Central line train in Stratford)

    New Station calendar

Some local people will raise an eyebrow at “on track, on target”, considering it was promised to be built by the early 2000s. Nevertheless, if this implies there is a business case agreed and funding in place, then that is positive at least.

    1992 stock Refurbishment?

I finally experienced one of the finished CLIP trains today. I was impressed with parts of the customer experience: digital signage, refreshed seat covers, some new flooring in places, quieter motors(?). Most incongruous for me wasn’t the bare paint and corrosion, but that the collapsed seat...

More Eurostar problems (Paris to London)

And it looks like delays all day again leaving Paris for London. My wife was 1h15 late leaving Paris this morning, again due to security scanning issues.

More Eurostar problems (Paris to London)

And for comparison, I left Paris 3 hours late and arrived London 4 hours late (slow leaving Paris and again before the tunnel, presumably waiting for an available path)

More Eurostar problems (Paris to London)

On the app earlier, it seemed to be limited to Paris => London, then a few knock-on delays for London => Paris.

More Eurostar problems (Paris to London)

Bon chance! In case you need & are still able to, I’d recommend to grab plenty of water & some food. Maybe also have a plan B ready to overnight in Paris, just in case E* pull the plug at some point. There are plenty of spare hotel rooms in Paris at this time year at least.

More Eurostar problems (Paris to London)

Just to alert people that Eurostar have had major problems again this afternoon in the Paris to London direction. It seems to be caused by issues with baggage scanning machines or personnel. Trains have been delayed leaving Paris by between one and three hours waiting for their passengers...

    Proposed Cork Luas

Following some local political pressure about timescales, the government commented this week that “construction could start during the current parliament”: https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster/arid-41764673.html. That would mean construction starting by late 2029, helped by a more...

Beckton Riverside (DLR) station location and service pattern

Yes, absolutely it’s related. The safeguarding included land especially on the Thamesmead side which is required for the new developments. The crossing is no longer needed as it is essentially replaced by the DLR. And freeing up the land ultimately allows the developers to build .. and afford...
