25 minutes to clear, clean, check and board a 400m long train is not long

So that’s really three trains every two hours not two trains an hour

Is that 30 minutes for doors open to doors closed or is that 30 mins for the entire platform section occupied to entire platform section cleared. If anyone could provide a minute by minute breakdown to help me understand I’d be grateful.

My concern is that it will only take one train with some vomit requiring a deep clean or a computer fault requiring a full reset and we’ll still have the same resilience or near the same resilience just because we didn’t spend enough on Euston

But isn’t the experience from Spain and elsewhere that once one major city has it, then the demand becomes overwhelming. Also, isn’t it cheaper to build passive capacity at Euston now rather than building an east coast mainline bypass in thirty years and the whole point of the y route was to...

Yes but the powers that be be might want to build an eastern leg in forty years time and they’ll be livid if we haven’t built enough platforms now

But wasn’t the whole point of hs2 meant to be a game changer in that not only would the network be resilient and recover there was a leaf on the line but also if a train is out of sequence because of a passenger falling sick etc.

What I’m trying to understand is what is now impossible given that Euston was once going to be 11 full length hs platforms but now it is going to be 6 full length plus 3 250m “stubs”. The correspondence says that is going to allow for 16tph but my understanding was that the original was designed...

Now that we know that Euston is going to probably be 6 full platforms plus 3 250m stubs. What are the long term implications for further extensions and the length of those services?

In terms of urgent decisions rather than mere aspirations, what does this mean for platforms for Euston and the scope of the rebuild. Is Peter Hendy furiously lobbying for a proper rebuild?
