They all had the destination box in black with a yellow rim, from new, up until they recieved FNW/NS/ATN livery; Wales & Borders, and subsequently Arriva Train Wales, were the only operators post privatisation to retain the original style
Aye literally all they need to do is strip the FGW paint off the interior panelling, revealing the original beige, orange and 'caramel' colours (ceiling panels/window surrounds, end bulkheads, and lower wall panels, respectively)
I think you're thinking of 142081 ;) when it was transferred to Wales they removed it and replaced it with a standard roller blind, however it's easily identifyable as the aperture is centrally placed as opposed to being slightly offset to the right as on the rest
if I were them I'd make at least one of them a 2-car service [ideally a pacer, even if temporarily] on weekdays aswell, as atm the only time that service gets a pacer is on Saturdays!
it was only replaced early last year when it had a ¿C6? overhaul, I was quite sad to see it go coz it would've been absolutely ideal to preserve like that (simply strip the pastel blue paint off the internal panelling and voila!)
Odd how it says it's timed for 90mph and 158s are the only members of the Sprinter family that can do 90, but there aren't any 158s still at Kilmarnock surely? If this is 155343 returning, then 344 must be leaving imminently, inwhich case when I saw it at Wakey Kirkgate on Monday was the last...
