Considering the amount of work already carried out on packaging the gensets etc, I see no reason why a hydrogen powered genset would be much harder to accomodate, given much of the work has already been done for the diesel versions.

Given its only 1 intermediate stop and not massive passenger volumes, coupled with the fact there aren't any spare 450s during the week PLUS its a captive diagram it makes plenty of sense to supply a 158 for the run.

From memory the 377/3s with Southern were originally 375/3s which were then renumbered when the couplers were changed.
They appear in Portsmouth pretty much all the time and work the services to Brighton IIRC.
