Luckily I have a friend on the inside and found out both positions went to external applicants and there was no internal applications. Just got to keep banging the applications in and who knows maybe one day. Thanks for the replies.

Hi all, Just a little bit of advice needed. I applied for a grade2 signaller vacancy near to me. Got the email saying they would like to take my application further and did the language test. Passed that then two weeks later got application unsuccessful as some other people were a closer match...
