can anyone tell me the valid routes from London to Exeter with an any permitted route?
I know you can travel via Salisbury, Westbury and Bristol, can you travel via Hove/Winchester and Southampton up to Salisbury?
I did this station last year, had around a 90 minute wait, the stream I was just sitting and watching it flow with the cows up and down trying to get out
Stations I’ve overnighted at:
Barnetby
Newport (Gwent)
Crewe
Holyhead
London St Pancras
Manchester Piccadilly
Manchester Airport
Gatwick Airport
Heathrow Airport
Aberdeen
Newcastle
Skegness
Cardiff Central
Some shockers there by the way!
Barnetby is great at night, non-stop freight, best travelling by car or if by train book one of the cheap hotels next door for around £20 per night in case you think enough is enough as only place open 24 hours is BP Garage around a 15/20 minute walk away
mine include:
Ravensthorpe slightly west to capture services to/from Wakefield Kirkgate
Wembley Central to have a high/low level station with Chiltern Main Line
Class 37s
Also give connections in and out of ferries which have long gone.
I remember there use to be an 0330 Saturday Morning to London Euston! Non-stop Bangor to Chester!
I know it’s not your query, If you fancy a change of route you could travel Grimsby - Lincoln - Peterborough then onwards.
Also Grimsby - Sheffield - Derby/Nottingham - Leicester/Corby - London St Pancras then onwards, or change at Luton/Luton Airport Parkway for Thameslink cross London to East...
