The ad may have been incorrect because the title said trainee driver,but then further down in responsibilities it described role as trainee train manager.
Wouldn't be surprised if reposted correctly.
My advice to the OP would be to either try and get a job on the railway and then after a year or so apply as an internal.
Or if you have a driving licence,get free training with a bus company as a driver and after a year or so apply for a trainee train driver slot when one comes up.

I had to chase it up as I was running out of time to get my notice to my manager to leave the job.That was the most nerve wracking bit,was told after they found medical results that all was ok and that a request for a formal offer would be submitted.
