    I did travel on a GWR branded class 387 from Huntingdon to KX some considerable while ago and think i had the same unit on the return journey

    I have only had to call a locksmith once due to lost keys and that was done through the household insurance at no cost so presumably they invoiced the insurance company direct unless they were under contract to the insurance company

    Would the rescue of the failed HST by a fully laden Class 59 approx 15 years ago classed as banking as i believe they did couple up the two locomotives ?

    I usually make this journey using EMR but reading about the problems they are having with hot weather for there trains is there another TOC which would be better without increasing the journey time

    I also had my first jobs paid in Cash as well as having to go and wait in line when in the reserve forces and then halt and salute the officer and state your army number to recieve your pay packet

    Agree that not having a regular postman it not a thing now ours used to be based locally so knew the village well and could spot if anything was out of the ordinary when on his round but since he has left it is a different postman each day who comes from the main sorting office about ten miles away

    Unstaffed barriers not accepting valid tickets

    I have had this happen at Upton Park station despite the Travelcard working fine at all other barriers i also ended up forcing the barrier as no one answered the help point as it just rung and went dead as no one was about at the station despite it being a busy time of day

    Yes it was a shame when DFDS stopped the ferries from Harwich to Esbjerg & Hamburg as i enjoyed the times i went to Esbjerg it was an 18 hour journey time if i am remembering correctly

    I believe that Whippet still have Paper Timetables although it can be a bit hit and miss if there are any in the racks onboard & there also a newish service 67 which runs from st neots to st ives and vice versa i don't know the service operator do paper timetables

    I would assume so but there were definitely no staff there at the time i was there and the help point was not working either would information be on the TFL website if stations are manned or unmanned ?
