On the Friday morning, Hayes & Harlington station had lost some/all power, but it was open, and trains were calling there. Eastbound trains could not open the doors in the rear 4/5 carriages. Does anyone know why this would have been?
Fully agree! Anyone else think that to have been prosecuted, named and shamed and handed a criminal record would have been a more fitting punishment than a fine which was probably loose change for this bloke!
People get hauled in front of court for far less - this guy had the means to pay, he...
It would be at the discretion of the train manager on the Sleeper service I'd think. That exact situation once happened to me and I was able to board the sleeper at Aviemore.
I love that the type of rolling stock would be a factor in deciding which town to live in. :D
Though I suppose as transport is an important factor, perhaps comfort is important too?
This did happen to me once when delays on the tube caused me to miss my departure from Kings Cross. I spoke to the train manager of the next service about 20 minutes before it was due to depart, politely explained the situation, and asked if there was any way I could board her later departure...
I never understand people who say "no point speculating until the report comes out". Surely the whole point of speculation is to theorise without firm evidence?
The "train companies" in the Network Rail link you've quoted refer to trading names and not distinct companies in the legal sense. "Gatwick Express" may be a trading name of Southern Railway Limited, but a train company it is not.
Out of interest, what happens if it's the other way around? I've misplaced the actual ticket part, but have the reservation part for a Hull trains journey on Saturday...
If I print off my email booking reference, is there any way it can be traced?
I booked a ticket on Megabus for a journey tomorrow morning and though I've received payment confirmations via email, I've not received the ticket reference number. With their customer service number not picking up and the train leaving at 08:15 tomorrow, will their customer services be able to...
I was allowed to access the Virgin 1st Class Lounge at Man Picc with a £8ish FC Advance ticket from Manc to Stoke. The amount of freebies I got in the lounge and then on the train must have nearly amounted to the cost of the ticket!
I was told by a Cross Country guard the other day that my West Mids Day Ranger wasn't valid between New Street and Leamington Spa, despite me having a map that showed otherwise. Her reasoning was that as Leamington is in Warwickshire it couldn't possibly be valid. The guards really should be...
Hey all,
I'm planning to travel from Hull to Liverpool on the 18th Feb, returning 19th.
My query is about the return. I want to travel back from Liverpool to Manchester on the 18th in the evening and stay in Manc overnight. I then wish to travel from Manchester to Hull on the morning of...
I'm no rail employee or expert, but yorkie's position seems completely logical.
There could be several tickets that are valid for a journey from Station C to Station E each with different fares. You see this with Anytime and Off peak tickets. We accept that as long the ticket is valid for the...
