    Issues at Sheffield 07/12

I was on the 1B88 1753 Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes from the airport last night. It was pretty rammed. Luckily got a seat, but lots didn’t. Reason given by the conductor was “cancellation of the previous service due to crewing issues”. By the time I got to Doncaster it was 30 mins late and...

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

Lots of 331’s sat at Doncaster today, while both Leeds diagrams were 321 operated. There was also a 195 training when i caught the 10.25 to Leeds.

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

Have to agree with that, Just out of interest, I did a not very scientific acceleration test on 331106 with my GPS app, leaving South Elmsall for Adwick, I got 90 secs to 100mph from platform start.

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

Certainly the one 331 ride that I have had was having door issues. Was 8 mins late departing Doncaster due to ‘technical issues with the train ‘ and on the return from Leeds, the guard seemed to be having problems getting some doors to work properly. Other than that, was very impressed with the 331.

I know it’s a bit late for today, but might give some clues as to next weekend workings, odd and even hour arrivals into Doncaster this afternoon were all 321/322 operated. 331102/105/106/110 were all stabled in Doncaster West yard.

Forgot to mention the seats in my post above- and really that says it all. They were firm , but completely comfortable with plenty of legroom. No problem for my bad back at all.

Thanks for that info, what’s the role of Maltby colliery now? Is it purely wagon storage.

    Northern Class 331: Construction/Introduction Updates

I was on Fridays 2B72 1426 Doncaster to Leeds, which was 331106. The service was 8L dep fr Don due to train fault, and judging by the guard having some ‘teething troubles ‘ with the doors, this might have been causing the delay. I thought that the train had Good , or even great acceleration. I...

    Northern Class 331: Initial diagrams

Not sure that’s correct? Diagram 2 is definitely 331. I caught 331106 on the 14.29 from Bentley (14.26 from DON). This was running 8 Late due to a train fault (doors I think). I had also seen the same unit at Bentley on the 10.29 to Leeds earlier in the day. On the way to Leeds, a 321 passed us...

    Northern Class 331: Initial diagrams

The morning service was disrupted by signal failure around Bentley/ Adwick. I went out for the 12.29 Bentley to Leeds, which should have been a 331, but it was cancelled. I believe services were doing a shuttle between Wakefield & Leeds till the problem was sorted around 13.00.
