    Avanti rosters

Hello, Sundays are part of the roster, and there is no higher overtime pay rate. You have 3 days off every week; they are usually together. Every 4, 5 weeks, you end up with something like 5 rest days in a row. There is a commission paid based on the sales made in the shop, on weekends and bank...

Avanti - Trainee Train Drivers - Recruitment Discussion

Hello everyone, I am also waiting for the DMI, in Euston. I applied last year, in February. I also would like to ask, as I am a little bit worried. I applied for a Trainee position with GTR. They accepted all of my tests from Avanti, but they asked me to take an extra one, to meet their...

    Dangerous boarding procedures at Euston

There is a Control Room with Network Rail colleagues and another one with Avanti West Coast colleagues - for Avanti, they are also called Engine Arrangers. Network Rail is the one that always makes the announcements, as well as managing the board. They are also the ones doing the assitance for...

    Dangerous boarding procedures at Euston

Following the ORR notice, N.R Euston, is now doing voice announcements for the platforms in advance, and some minutes later, is showing it on the board. Everything falls under the crowd management commitment, and this is an attempt to make it safer for the passengers. Euston Station, has a lot...

How to make the boarding experience at Euston safer and more pleasant

In my opinion, the only thing that can be done to ease this pain, is to actually build the HS2 all the way into London Euston. Any financial cost it will be for sure recovered with the time, as there is high demand and it will be even more once it is built. This should bring a lot more capacity.

Class 700 on Great Northern services

Hi, I am commuting on this line daily and the 700’s are rare since the last timetable change. I am not able to say a certain number though. However, as an example, the 0634 from Hitchin to London Kings Cross was a Class 700 today. They even took 387’s from GWR to be used on the line.
