It wasn't normally done - the southbound trains ran with the Edinbugh portion on the rear being easier to shunt it there at Carstairs. The Glasgow BG would be in the centre of train. Once back in Birmingham the portions would usually be switched at Duddeston.

Just seen a GBRF 66 heading south through Macclesfield on about 16 loaded Land Recovery box bogies - any ideas if this is a regular working. Unusual to see freight here. In the middle of delayed Avantis so following one will be slow!
