  • It amazes me how many people are unaware of the costs of providing rail services or just ignore costs entirely. To make financial sense it comes down to user numbers and there is no way on earth that Grangemouth or Bo'ness could mount a case for being connected to the passenger network. There is no demand for a connecting of the two towns, never has been never will be. As for Grangemouth people wanting to get to Falkirk it's nonsense because bus is faster, cheaper and gets them closer to the retailing if they are carless. Getting to the station in Grangemouth would require busing because most of the population resides away from the station area. People will only walk a few hundred metres from their parking space in this day and age when going shopping. What's the sense in getting a bus to Grangemouth Station or driving there, getting out, catching a train and then repeating the exercise on the return? Answer? No point at all and no chance when laden with shopping, food or otherwise.
