Thanks for the explanation though does seem odd that the first two called. Another oddity on the 1643 was that no explanation was given for not stopping and it wasn't announced until about 5 minutes before leaving Lime Street.

Is the whole line open now? I las visited in October 2018 and the section to the park entrance was overgrown with weeds but the other half of the line was running.

Not got any inside information but there are 7 or 8 159/0 that haven't been out for about 10 days. Not sure abou the 159/1. I wonder if formations will improve next week with the reduced service west of Salisbury, though schedules are longer.

Thanks, that's very helpful. What with the Crewkerne stops and now the announcement of a reduced service west of Yeovil from August 11th, the line is in a bad way at the moment.

In the last week there has been a huge increase in short formations on the West of England line. Today nearly all Exeter trains have been 3 cars West of Salisbury. The morning and evening peak has had a number of 3 and even 2 car trains to and from Waterloo. The reason has variously been given...

The line is still open but the stop accounts for 3 to 4 minutes in running time allowing for braking and accelerating from the station.

Yes although it seems drastic it's better than reducing the service to two hourly which is what they did 2 years ago, I think.

There seem to be a few trains skipping Crewkerne this week, 0620 HON - WAT, 0725 EXD - WAT among otherss. As usual with SWR you have to look deep into the website to find any information and all I can find about Crewkerne is that it won't be served from Monday 28th. I can see the reasoning but...
