    The only reason it would need to go via Hove would would be to turn a kettle via the triangle, but as it was duff-hauled (apparently) it would just complicate and lengthen the journey.

    Although 377s are used now, last year there was about 60,000 journeys between "Brighton" (Brighton, Hove, Portslade) and "Portsmouth" (Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth and Southsea, Fratton).

    The "shop" is in the luggage area between the passenger seats and the driver's cab in coach G. The lady just served through the open door. The buffet bar remains closed.

    It does like trying to make you walk, from St Pancras to Waterloo it says train to to Blackfriars then 15 minutes walk, Marylebone to St Pancras 30 minutes walk!
