Emt - sunday first class

I am using EMT from Leeds to London this morning and wondered what kind of first class service I can expect. I have never used EMT first class before you see. I also assume this service will be formed of a 222

They do - its a good connection too

Leeds Services are almost all HST.

You'll be able to get Free Tea/Coffee and the normal catering trolley comes through.

Its pretty decent I think with good padded seating.

I think EMT weekend 1st is really good value. I've been able to get £15 tickets Sheffield to London just the day before (YP discount).

As mentioned, it is only tea and coffee, but that's all you really need (ie snacks/sandwiches can easily be brought along). The WiFi is good.

I did have a HST a couple of times - once this was a SHF starter, but once it started back from LDS.

I used a St Pancras to Leeds service every weekend for several years and only once did a 222 work it - that was a one off due to set failure during the day - the Leeds to London StP and vice versa trains are there specifically to get HSTs to and from Neville Hill depot so every single train is booked HST and they are generally pretty solid for it.

EMTs Leeds-London and London-Leeds services are exclusively HSTs, for the main reason of getting some EMTs HST sets in and out of Neville Hill.

A 222 has made it to Leeds though, but on diversions last year when the 7 car 222s used on the Sunday York service couldn't use the Holgate sidings (where it stays till heading back south) due to the engineering works to quad the southern approach into York station.

Has for EMTs weekend first class, its as people have said its just free tea and coffee and free wi-fi. On a Saturday however there are two breakfast trains in the morning. The 07:27 Sheffield to London (222) and 07:32 Sheffield (06:34 from Leeds) to London via Nottingham (HST). If you are wanting a breakfast its advisable to buy one of the breakfast tickets to guarantee getting one as demand can be very high.

Assuming it's a breakfast-inclusive ticket (which it sounds like at that price) then it's a grill breakfast of some description with toast, as well as tea/coffee.

First class only, in designated dining area. Rest of train gets the Rail Gourmet trolley.

There are breakfast inclusive First Advance tickets available to book, otherwise you can upgrade on board if there are spare dining seats on the morning.

From memory Breakfast involves choice of fruit or cereal starter, cooked main course (grill tray - bacon, sausage etc), toast, tea/coffee/fruit juice.

If its a "London Day Out", it'll include breakfast - I think that they also sell First Advance+Breakfast on a Saturday but not sure. Breakfast is only available to first class - and not always possible to buy up to breakfast from normal first on board as the breakfast tends to be very popular on Saturdays (but if they will do buy-on-board it's a tenner).

The Satursday morning breakfast offer is:
* tea or coffee, plus juice or water
* serials or fruit
* bacon, sausage, egg on muffin, tomato, mushrooms, hashbrown, black pudding - not pre-plated but served at-seat off platters
* toast and preserves

* or a veggie option which is the non-meat selection from the above in slightly greater quantities

* there's no salmon and scrambled egg or kipper option on Saturday

Tea and coffee are served from pots on the breakfast trains - for the rest of the day it's complimentary from the RailGormet trolley and it's only bags/sachets into hot water

In my experience (and a lot of First Class experience I must say), WiFi is generally speaking reliable and fast, even in the mixed carriages on 4-/5-car 222s. On only two occasions over the years has WiFi failed and both were in Coach J on an HST. Not sure if they were the same one.

Weekend tea and coffee can be hit-and-miss. They're served from the trolley and sometimes you get the same offer as what Standard pax get (after paying), but other times you get horrible generic stuff.
