Favorite Station that is NOT your own

I've always liked Bournemouth and Weymouth always has a train in and very good places outside of the pub. They could do with a WCML link though up to at least Preston or Lancaster.

Cardiff Bay probably. Nice area, very easy access to Cardiff itself and then many other places, and on a good day you get a 121 too.

Technically BMH does have WCML links, but only as far as Manchester. Not exactly bad though.

Manchester's not exactly on the WCML. The WCML is Preston-Leyland-Euxton-Wigan-Warrington-Hartford-Crewe and so on from there, completely missing Manchester by like 15-20 miles.

Burn Naze near Fleetwood, yes I know it's closed but I love how the area around it is so sparse and empty*, plus the staircase that has somehow, mostly, survived since its closure.

*Except the trees on the platform and the new housing development.

If you can have overseas then I vote for aigle in Switzerland. Mainline, and three different metre gauges ones, plus the excellent Buffet De La Gare !

Otherwise I'm quite fond of both Shrewsbury and Huddersfield

Shrewsbury's good. With the huge signalboxes, criss-cross of junction lines and ample semaphores I half expect to see a gleaming Castle, or at the very least a maroon Western diesel.

Dovey Junction - bascially a bird watching hide where a few trains happen to stop.

Agree about Cardiff Bay,now.When I started working trains down there in the late 80s,before the Bay redevelopment,there was a rough council estate one side of the line and total ex industrial wasteland on the other.It was called Cardiff Bute Road then and there was nothing at all on the platform,no lighting posts,shelter,or signs.The station would have been a serious contender on the other thread about which station you would least like to be stranded at.

Agree about Cardiff Bay,now.When I started working trains down there in the late 80s,before the Bay redevelopment,there was a rough council estate one side of the line and total ex industrial wasteland on the other.It was called Cardiff Bute Road then and there was nothing at all on the platform,no lighting posts,shelter,or signs.The station would have been a serious contender on the other thread about which station you would like to be stranded at.

I've only living within 50 miles of Cardiff for 2½ years - less still in fact. The first time I went there, the area was as it is now. Stunning.

I have heard about the tales of Bute Road though.

I agree with you and would add it's always cooler than the surroundings and darker too. Only reason I didn't go with it is because I interpreted "your own" meaning local

There are many stations I like, I couldn't say I have a favourite.

Hebden Bridge is a lovely station although the Calderdale Line traffic isn't too exciting (well, at least from my perspective).

For large stations I am quite fond of Bristol Temple Meads, there's just something about it that I like.

Overseas, Berlin Hauptbahnhof is a modern masterpiece and Bremen Hbf is great and more traditional too. So much diverse traffic with fantastic facilites - I could spend all day watching the services.
