Hi am new to site and just wanted to ask a couple of questions as I am looking for a change in career. I am 37 and very interested in becoming a train driver but do not know the first place to look. I was in the Army for 10yrs and then did some Close protection chauffeuring for 6yrs. Am I too old to start a new career or start training, also how do I find out any information on it apart from internet who want money from you. I live in the north-west so how easy would it be to get into, if anyone can provide any info I would be very grateful.
Thanks

I found this this site to be very useful. Loads of information there, and it should answer some of your questions - though I'm sure other more knowledgeable people here can give you personal advice.

Join the club Wally :) Seems like you're in exactly the same place as me (albeit 10 years younger). The link to traindriver.org is a brilliant place to start, that's where I looked first after being pointed there myself by guys off this site.

Good hunting :D

I'm mid 30s and have just applied for a trainee train driver role and passed. My background is Human Resources.

In addition to the above link, I googled Trainee Train Driver to look for jobs and looked at individual Train Operating Company websites.

There's a wealth of information on these forums so happy searching and good luck!
