I believe the 2x 153 diagram has been running for awhile. Presumably there are still insufficient numbers of 156s for this to be converted to 156 operation?

Its turned up at Lincoln a few times when I've been travelling.

If you are referring to the weekday 1728 Lincoln to Leicester its booked to be 2x153.

Normally the 156 arrival from Leicester forms the next departure to Leicester, however the one that would do this continues to Sleaford.

The 2x153s arrive off the 1645 from Peterborough (with one attaching at Sleaford)

If this were to be converted to a 156 operation then we would probably lose the 1512 from Lincoln to Sleaford service as it would otherwise be 3x cars with the attach at Sleaford, thus creating a gap between trains and making the 1601 to Peterborough even busier than it currently is, so not really in passengers best interests.

On a side note the equivalent service in the morning from Sleaford arriving into Lincoln at 0813 is also booked to be a 156, however it sits at Lincoln for 20 minutes before continuing to Leicester.

Okay. Presumably they are just running "any" EMT 156 diagrams, I'm not aware of anything about them that means they'll be used mainly on shorter/longer routes, they'll be shuffled into the existing bunch of 156s on Skegg/ Worksop/ Matlock (etc) duties.

I see them fairly commonly on the rhl, they seem to always have one on the Worksop - Lincoln morning service (they have a 153 attached to it too)

Have the 156's resulted in a full cascade of 158's yet?

Has two car operation been virtually eradicated on Nottingham to Liverpool?

How many 153's do EMT have? It did seem to be quite a large number when EMT first got their unfair stock allocation following the demise of Central Trains. They must be using them all somewhere.

17, 14 at the time the franchise was created - around half a dozen of those were Central Trains units, 3 came down from Northern in December 2008.

Hi, links from EMT site:

http://www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/AboutUs/News/Pages/_EastMidlandsTrainsLaunches1500AdditionalSeats.aspx

and

http://www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/EMTrains/AboutUs/StakeholderInformation/ImpactIssueSeven.pdf

Both detail some of what is happening following a quick search, there is some further information on there that once the sprinter refurbishment is finished all trains between Liverpool & Nottingham will be 4x cars.

The ex Northern 156s can be seen anywhere as they are in a common pool with the other 156s, however they are primarily being used to cover the refurbishment program, so in a sense the cascade is on-going due to be complete late this year.
