I don't know about Edinburgh but I'm hoping the Portsmouth to Ryde ferry is still running later as all the others have been cancelled this morning.

Looks like WCML is closed north of Carlisle. All Forth bridges closed road & rail as has Glasgow Airport so everyone is in the same boat. Plenty of warning on the weather forecast all yesterday so anybody with any common sense would not expect it to be an easy ride.

Just sorted out a new resevation for tomorrow on the edinburgh - wolvo services due to the weather conditions here in Armadale and that the reports of Waverly to close and that the WCML is closed north of Carlise.

Glasgow Central High Level also closed, after two lorries were blown over on the (nearby and also now closed) Kingston Bridge. Winds are reaching a terrifying extent up there - the Met Office has now issued a red warning, as 90mph gusts are expected.

Yup, upstairs at Sraid na Banrighinn also closed, but the brave little North Berwick trains do seem to be running out of Waverley...

I strongly advise staying indoors, it's too risky to go out. Plan a journey later in the week if possible.

I strongly recommend that as well. As mentioned i've replanned my journey for tomorrow now just pondering if it is a double super voyager or an pendo. Also apparntly the shopping center in Livingstone may be closed soon.

A lot of East Coast services have been cut short to start/terminate at Newcastle. I'm sure the TOCs affected will allow passengers on delayed/cancelled/altered services to travel the next day.

Already been in contact with Virgin and said it is fine. Also have been able to get a seat resevation, just have to pick that part up in Edinburgh tomorrow morning.

If you mean the 1700 from Edinburgh (1E24), this train will start from Newcastle at 1828. National Rail have said that passengers on this service should travel on the 1730 (1E25) instead, which at the moment (pending weather conditions) is expected to run as normal. National Rail have also stated that customers may use the train before or after theirs if it is cancelled.

Yes but an amended timetable has been set up for specific services, see the bottom post on NRE service problems.

XC/Ec services vary. The departure boards dont seem to update. As showing a low are still running. E.g the 10:51 from edb to bhm but seems to have been cancelled at Carlise. Same for the 12:51 that was cancelled seemly around Lancaster (was the train i was due to get)

There's also a signalling problem between Retford and Newark North Gate which isn't helping issues either.

aye- as I'd like to get home before next week, I was thinking of turning up early to see if i could get a train to newcastle to catch up with my booked train. Has to be worth a try. Seems to be calming down

Also a problem on the ECML near Chester le Street - announcement at NCL said OLE problems, EC website says obstruction. The train which was going to form the 10.25 NCL-KGX hasnt arrived in NCL.

Very scary stuff around the Kingston Bridge area around 10am today. I was pulling my bicycle underneath the bridge and a freak burst of wind nearly put me and it into the Clyde. Luckily there was a fence there. Phew.

Just got on the first Southbound ECML train from NCL for a while - an HST from the North, which I presume must have left Waverley before it was closed.

Looking at the Twitter feed of NRE, all services in and out of Glasgow Central, Glasgow QS and Edinburgh are suspended.

Down here in Surrey, things are nowhere near as fierce but it is still exceptionally squally with plenty of standing water, rain, hail (I think) and gusts of 45-60mph, which is quite fast enough.

No trains from England to Scotland at all now according to NRE, Virgin and TPE aren't going further then Penrith and XC aren't going north of Newcastle.

Down south, looks like the wires are down at Stratford on the GEML and in Wales the Valley line services arent going past Pontypridd because of flooding.

I'm thinking of cutting and running for KGX-PBO using FCC while that's still working!
