Anybody ever had an application reach this stage?
Apparently a vacancy has to come up within 6 months?

My other half is short listed but on hold for scotrail. If the same post comes up in 6 months time then you are automatically through the application short list and should get invited to an assessment day according to HR. Take with a pinch of salt though this could be wrong.

If you mean shortlisting after application stage then yes, I have. I wasn't aware of any 6 month issue and would have thought this varied company to company? By the time the original TOC I applied to got back to offer me an interview I had been through all the assessments with another company whose location suited me better. I decided to reject the former interview and go with the company who had put me through the assessments.

Is that for the Gateline Assistant position at Glasgow Central?
Which was advertised in August?

I am on hold for a trainee driver position at Leeds. My application will be kept 'live' for six months to see if any further vacancies arise. Should they not in this timescale, my application will be removed and I shall have to reapply in the future.

What TOC?
What was the position you applied for originally and declined?
What position do you hold now?

I didnt hear till October 25th - got an "On Hold".
Took over 10 weeks before I heard anything.

Yeah it was for the gateline assistant posts. Apparently too many folks applied. Lots were shortlisted but not enough places were available for assessment days. As the barriers go up in central I reckon they'll take more on a block at a time.

I've got put "on hold" before for a trainee drivers position, with ATW after passing the medical. 23 months later and I'm not sure if I'm still "on hold" or binned.

I think an application "On Hold" is only valid for 6 months.
I would contact HR or the Careers Department.
They will advise you.

I am on hold for the recently advertised depot driving job(s) at Leeds with Northern Rail, there must be hundreds of applicants in hold queues or "talent pools" as they call them for various posts.

I took it as a positive and not an out right rejection and will use the time to practice mechanical knowledge, dot test/scaat and company knowledge. I knew the competition would be a bit stiff when I applied, especially since I heard there was only 1 vacancy.

A vacancy appeared for Gateline at Glasgow Central (Shift & Relief) on 28th Dec with a closing date of 11th Jan 2012, & was pulled while I was looking at it!
It went up at about 10.00 & was deleted about 13.00
I was just about to apply & it literally disappeared, I called the First Group resourcing/careers number & they told me that they had been advised to remove it by management!!
So i dont know if that means the vacancy no longer exists or if it does they may be using some of the previous applicants from the August advert, if they need anyone?
So who knows some of you who were previously on hold might be in with a shout soon?:?:

Aww that's pants that you didn't get to apply. Maybe some of those on hold will be getting assessment days soon though. Chin up am sure there will be more of these posts as the barriers go up at central. Fingers and flaps crossed.

I hope that's the case for anyone "on hold" & if so best of luck.
Here's hoping more jobs come up in the new year too.

I'm on hold. I passed the assesment for FGW and they contacted me with an interview date unfortunately I couldn't make the first time they offered. They said they would get back to me. Not heard a single thing. I feel rather annoyed!

I don't think you should have said you couldn't go to the first date they offered you. Just my opinion. Good luck though

Due to a all day Hospital Appointment I could not attend, they politely said they will offer me another time slot. So how is your opnion justified now?

They've filled all the position's now having not heard off FGW HR but off FGW Staff who know people who have got the job. I feel ive not been giving me a fair and equal opportunity to have the Interview, So I've written a letter to FGW

I dont think its fair to judge whether sonic should have cancelled the hospital appointment or not. Health surely comes first and you cannot blame sonic for the decision they made.

i mentioned this well in advance to them. I had this appointment booked for 6 months! and could not change it, and will not go in details about what it was for.

I cannot see how you can give your opnion without knowing the facts.

Yes, completely agree, if you've been waiting 6 months for a hospital appointment I would not cancel it over an Interview

Sorry sonic, but this is how it works generally, if you cannot turn up for an interview someone else will take your place and this is what happened. I am not judging you at all just quoting facts and what happens. You cannot whine about not getting a second chance if you failed to turn up at interview for what ever reason, there are many waiting in your wake who will be able to turn up for interview.

The facts are you did not attend an interview because of a hospital appointment are they not?
