Northern 180 at Northallerton

Stood at Northallerton waiting for my train and a ECS northern liveried 180 went north at about 1230 - what's all that about? Transfer to GC or a trip to Wabtec at Kilmarnock?

180103 is (or was) at Doncaster works. I would guess this is the first one to go for refurbishment.

Correct. 180103,106 and 108 between December 2008 and December 2011.

Im also told that 180104 (stored) & 180106 (Ex Northern) has also now gone to Kilmarnock for refurbishment...Afterall this time doing rather little, Kilmarnock seems to be rather FGW flooded!

Had 102 come though Stevenage on a special working from York to Kings Cross on Friday running as 1Z36 - According to TRUST, it was stopping at Doncaster, Grantham, Peterborough and Stevenage (I can't recall if it stopped at Retford or Newark Northgate).

Only thing is despite TRUST stating it was stopping for a 1 minute and a half at Stevenage, it went though at full line speed with passengers onboard in the first coach at the London end only in fact they could have used as Parry's People Mover or a Class 153 .

What was all that in aid of?

180103 went through York Station heading south at about 14.00 today. Immaculate condition with First Great Western branding.

Would it be possible for First to share the 180s in a common pool off Old Oak between FGW and First Hull Trains? Would allow for more flexibility and hopefully prevent a repeat of the stock availability problems for Hull Trains in the past.

This was mooted however I seem to remember someone saying DfT wouldn't wear it. Wouldn't surprise me if a bit of spot hire goes on before too long tho.

Are the better looking GC units getting their interiors done whilst at kilmarnock or are they keeping the old FGW interior, i was on 180107 (hart of the north) on sunday and it was looking a bit tired to say the least.

At present some HST trailers are being rotate away on refresh and 180s have been getting the new reliability/engine mods from Brush! HST power cars are going through their first round of heavy maintenance (C Exams) since MTU'ing so it's all go

It's a unit...All vehicles are motor vehicles and the sets are semi-permanently coupled.

No fear of a HST is it a DMU or Loco type thread here, just a tiny bit of detail missing - good photo, saw it come though Stevenage in it's nice shiny livery.
