Great British Railway Journeys returns

Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys is to return to our screens on the 2nd January 2012 (coincidentally my birthday) on BBC2 at 18:30. He will be starting at Great Yarmouth, working his way down the Great Eastern till London where he will finish at Embankment.

Anyone looking forward to this? What other routes do you think will be covered?

Well, all I know is that the BBC will no dowbt show the exterior of a Central Trains 170 from library footage when he's on the S&C, and dub over very wrong sounds in foley because it's all they have to hand.

Good to hear that this is back.

I was hoping that this series would see him come further north than Kirkcaldy, which was his last stop in Scotland in the first series. I reckon there would be plenty to talk about going across the Tay Bridge into Dundee, up to Aberdeen then Inverness. But I didn't hear anything about him filming in this area, so it would seem unlikely.

Theyve been running repeats for the last few weeks, new series starts in January so easy to be confused.

Its after his guide was written I think, he uses a first edition printed 1840 the bridge didnt open till something like 1880.

That didn't stop him using a later edition while going up the West Highland Line in the last series.

They were filming in the Lancaster area over the summer including onboard a Northern service to Morecambe.
