According to the NR website there are delays of up to 50 mins due to "an operating incident near Lostwithiel".

Would anyone be able to define "operating incident"?

Ah the BML abbreviation Means the Brighton Mainline again - earlier in the year i believe a signal was struck in the Gatwick area and a train was struck at Balcombe Tunnel Jct, both by lightning within a short space of time of each other.

It would surprise me if a lightning strike had caused delays. Unless it affected a signal or *possibly* a lineside tree, I can't imagine anything that might be within range that could cause a problem?

SWM is actually South Wales Main Line, the four letters SWML are not actually used officially and just as well as it would confuse things even more. I hope you never end up reporting a bridge strike on what you think is BML.

The Engineer's Line References use three letters (if there is a change of mileage on the route then a number is added after these letters). In the case of the Great Western Main Line it's MLN(1 to 4). This is due to the fact that it's was simply known as "Main Line" by the GWR. If you look under a bridge on the Bournemouth Main Line you will see a sign telling the location in miles and chains and that it is BML.
