I seem to recall a die-hard MML fan, more so one of MML's HSTs up there Jamie...Same went with a good friend of yours. Wonder what happened to those two...

Suddenly 9-car 222s came along, then of course the GCR...

Common normality stinks. I'm going the other way, being the same as everyone else is boring.

Which one? I have, and have had a number of friends interested in that specific area.

If I must be more specific, I was of course thinking of you. MML this, MML everything it was. MML was your life, your blood, your reason for being. Similar thing with Nick it was, he being the other person I was thinking of.

Once the GCR came along, you became obsessed with steam. Words fail me still on that. Not that steam isn't a wonder of engineering or anything, I can't see how such an obsessive MML/HST fan makes such a move to something that is, in my eyes, an inferior, slower technology! Yes we'd not have today's trains without it back then, but hey. Perhaps I'm a speed-freak, a thrill-seeker. Always after the fastest run I can possibly get! Indeed, 2007 will see me touring the country as much as possible doing theme parks to get the best roller coasters in for some high-speed, high-thrill runs!

As for your final comment, yes, I suppose you're right. That train has already departed the station and is on a high-speed run towards London.

Nick was never as much as an MML 'fanatic' as Jamie.

I wouldn't exactly say that Jamie and Nick are good friends either, and havn't been for a while really.

As for whinging about somebody going from one extreme to the other in terms of what they like, you either like FirstGroup or you don't... ;) (I'll remind me of the time when you threatened me with the 'punishment' of being deleted from your MSN contact list for going on a rant about how **** First are ;))

Not paticularly, I just had a significant interest in them, I just didnt talk to you about much else cause the other things I was interested in didnt involve HST Trainsets

Not really similar, I seem to remember both myself and him were into NET at that time and regularly went on it every other Saturday

Obviously you do not appreciate the hard work it takes into getting a working steam locomotive, for what it's worth, a British Railways Standard 9 would rival a HST Trainset Power Car for power to the rails. A single London & North Eastern Railway A4 Pacific has ran above the top speed of two HST Trainset Power Cars.

Inferior? I dont think so!
Slower? Most certainly not!

From that sentence, remove the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th words. :)

Hauled non-stop by triple-headed 37s with 3212 and 3213 providing the passenger comforts...

Seems a bit of an overkill doesnt it, especially considering that the 37's cannot supply ETH to the 4-VEP's, so you're buggered when you go into a tunnel or it gets dark and you want lights, no PA system either, or heating, or, well, nothing, just a coach on wheels with windows and seats.

Oh do grow up, the pair of you.

Shhhhh. Your spoiling the thread!! It's a classic heated discussion between WHSmithFan and Jamie with a couple of others in the mix.

Awaits a supposedly 'witty' reply from you-know-who....

Was my post okay then?! <D

3212 and 3213 as in 373212 and 373213 Jamie...

Why didn't you just write 373212 and 373213 in the first place. Besides has nothing to do with GCR.....

Because it should have been obvious...

Besides, it was only mentioned as a result of Jamie making the 'that train has already left comment'. I found it funny, and decided such humour deserved equally good humour. Pedancy struck with the slammer numbers and 373 numbers being confused, I clarified. As for the non-ETH thing, I wouldn't care, I'd be too busy enjoying some almighty haulage!

In any case, it was never meant to go on this long!
