Strange observation Saturday morning of the above. The original unit 156405 on the 0636 EMT 2L55 Nottingham service failed before it even started so 222022 was drafted into Platform 2 at Leicester to cover that journey. I never thought that they were cleared for running on the slow lines.

Is anyone aware of similar occurrences before?

Plenty of times from memory due to Sunday engineering work. As far as I know the only difference is that their speed will be restricted on the slow lines with maybe a bit of clickety clack.

Yes but on Sundays they don't call at intermediate stations though.
