Neither Acton nor Morpeth nor Rotherham

The HST belongs to the TOC that doesn't stop. They did so for a fairly brief period a few years back but didn't attract much custom

Abergavenny?

If it is, that's fairly cheeky, as FGW HSTs do pass through nonstop, but only for ECS between Hereford and Bristol/Cardiff.

Yep - I did weasel word it slightly:roll:

The other two stations were Abergavenny Junction (a bit to the north) and Abergavenny Brecon Road on the Heads of the Valleys line. As you've now posted

Your go

This station is served by two TOCs. Services leave in either direction for another station served by five TOCs.

EMUs do not call at this station.

I'm thinking Nottingham (to Peterborough) - but too many TOCs?

Could it be Lincoln? Almost all trains are EMT, including a sevice to Peterborough, while the (very) limited East Coast offering goes the other way.

Ooh, hold on; there's also Northern. Kind of ruins it. D'oh! I'll leave it up anyway to see what Eagle has to say about this response...

Zo it's zumwhere served by electric loco hauled trains, then?, so it must be somewhere in East Anglia north of Colchester. Zo at a wild guess Norwich, although EMUs are not unknown there, but I've no idea about the rest of the Clues.

Could also be the ECML between York and Berwick or one of the few freight only electrified lines.

I'll go for Earlestown.

But with what destination?

That was the bit I wasn't sure about, I thought being a triangular junction services may have use two different routes to reach Manchester.

I can't think of any ECML or GEML which fit all the criteria either.

It is none of those places. All the early guesses were close; these are miles off.

As many have already guessed, the destination is Peterborough.

If you can't get it by now I despair :P

Alfreton??

One train a week that runs non stop from Nottingham vis Syston curve rather than via Grantham like all the rest

Curious that the curve is one direction only. Any reason for the other way not being used?
