When are the Class 153 units 153376, 153379 and 153384 are going to get repainted into EMT livery as it looks horrible in the Central Livery?

Presumably when they go through refurbishment. I'm quite surprised it's taken them this long to get round to it!

The Central 153s were probably in the best nick of the lot - I hope the Northern 156s are put through NL first tbh.

How do you mean the Central 153 were probably in the best nick of the lot?, When the refurbishment on 153/156 units are completed will it go back to old diagram on the Nottingham to Matlock or will it be different when the 158 units go back to the Liverpool to Norwich route, I bet the 153 units will be the first to finish refurbishment and then one of the 158's will have to go back to the Liverpool to Norwich route

The former Wales & West 153s were in the worst condition. I went on the last unrefurbished example from Derby to Crewe in June. The ex-Class 158 seats had been re covered in former Central Trains pattern but were far too low for any real comfort. In retrospect they may have been better keeping the original Ashbourne seating, dare I say it.

I have to agree that the ex-Wales & West units were by far the worst from a passengers perspective. By some miracle, I've mostly managed to avoid them - the windows on 153s are high at the best of times, but in those seats I could barely see out of them.

I seem to remember reading some comments from Tim Shoveller that the mechanical condition of a number of the inherited units left a great deal to be desired.

You still have to say, the LM livery looks good on a 153!

153 356 seen in the sun at Coventry on it way back to Nuneton with the 15:40 turn on 15.10.2011
