Some Help With XC Service Leeds to York

Hi

i'm planning of Going to York with Some mates in a couple of weeks to see a couple of railtours and go around the NRM but i was just wondering Would i be able to buy a ticket from Keighley and Get on a XC Service to York from Leeds as last time i went i couldn't sit down as i was a Northern Class 158 and i think the XC Service would be as packed as the Northern Service.

So Would i be able to buy my ticket from Keighley and then get a Northern train to leeds and then a XC Train to York.

As long as you don't have a Nortgern only ticket, I'd have thought you would be fine on XC or TPE between Leeds and York

Of course you can take XC but if you want a seat, by far your best chance is a NT stopper!

Could you not get a seat the whole way to York on Northern last time? The races must have been on! The race season is over now.

The 158s are normally very busy out of Leeds (from Blackpool North) most of the week anyway due to the stations it serves between Leeds and York, although you should be able to get a seat on most TPE or XC services.

Yorkie They Was no Seats free as the whole train was packed but that was in the first week of the summer holiday but we all want to by XC So i just wondered if i would have to buy a tcket to get to leeds and then buy another one to get to york but now i won't have to.

I don't think they'd be that busy out of Leeds in the morning though, surely? Yes, in the evening they do get busy but you can get a seat within just a few minutes as people get out at Cross Gates, Garforth etc.

You don't say what day/time this is, but XC services can get extremely busy.

Depends what time, but invariably what you'll find is that when a 2-car a58 turns up a lot of people want to be on it. At the same time a near empty 3-car 158 is going the Grand Tour!
