Yes.

It seems that there are quite a number of TfL buses in Staines whereas it isn't within any TfL zone. Has TfL ever considered to expand its zones to Stains like what it did to Watford?

They probably could. My guess is that if they did then it would more than likely to be the same as what happened with Watford Junction, ie. special fares.

Similarly the 235 runs from Feltham to Sunbury but accepts all Travelcards, I think the 81 to Slough is the same.

The Travelcard does not have to start at Feltham, you can make the starting point any station in the zones, a Hatch End-R1256 has the same vaility as a Feltham-R1256.

290 to Twickenham and Travelcard from there? It'd work out the same anyway.

Much better IMO as that bus goes along dual carriageways for a significant stretch of the journey. The 117 was a tedious residential route from what I can remember.

I have tried my plan today and everything went fine. First I went to Staine Rail Station to colloet my Feltham + London 1-6 off peak travel card, then walked to the nearest bus stop which was about 100 meters away. Got on the bus at 9:41, showed the travel card to the driver and there was no problem. 30 minutes after I arrived at Feltham station bus stop and the railway station was 150 metres crossing the rail tracks. Waited only 5 minute and caught a 10:11(about) train to London Waterloo via Richmond. Coming back at about 4pm, I did the same and the traffic was fine. Tonight I still need to ride the same bus twice so this travel card is really good value to me.

I remember that in some railway stations outside London zones, the railcard ticket will be collected while exiting the station. Whereas this didn't happen in Staines or Feltham as far as I know. That means I can still use the travelcard at the rest of the time in a day.

Bus 290 takes 45 minutes from Staines to Twickenham whereas bus 117 takes 28 minutes to Feltham. I'd do it to Feltham as train is more comfortable than bus.

No barriers within the zones should swallow a day travelcard as it is not an expired ticket until 4.30am the next day. An all zones travelcard probably wouldn't work the barriers at Staines though. Outside the zones the ticket is a return to the zone 6 boundary plus a travelcard so the barriers will often keep it on the return journey. That can be a problem in places not far from London where the ticket still has use on local buses. You can also make your own way back into the zones and continue using it, so I really don't think it should ever be retained anywhere.

A Travelcard gives you unlimited travel until 0429 the following day. Only 'outboundary' travelcards- such as one from Staines- would be collected, as you only get one journey from and back to that station AS WELL AS unlimited travel in Zones 1-6.

You really don't have to buy it in advance, the ticket office (not the machines) at Staines will sell it to you.

Stop thinking of your ticket as "Feltham to London" - Feltham is in zone 6 so the ticket is simply an in-boundary zones 1-6 travelcard and should never be retained by a barrier. Out-boundary travelcards starting from stations outside the zones are sometimes retained by the barrier when returning to your origin station but again should never be retained by a barrier within the zones.
