Her and her friends were on the 14:15 to Cardiff last Friday, no complaints by all accounts (at least according to the journo making it up , sorry, I mean source quoted in the Mail). She seems to have had a good trip.

So to reserve a whole 1st cl coach would cost 6k? And you could charter a whole HST for £25k, then?

I'd guess that is referring to the cost of a charter train, not an HST per se.

The passenger numbers on this train means that usually the entirety of First Class passengers would be comfortably accommodated in one carriage (or even half).

It was not a case that people were having to stand (or even share a table) because of this.

I think it is fantastic to see the railways used in this way by people who have the money to spend. Of cours in the old days most railway companies had family saloons and special saloons for such jobs, coaches to be added to regular trains. Beyond that some people had their own coaches. The Duke of Sutherlands Saloon in the NRM is a lovely example.

These celebs are just the modern day people with the money to do this and i'd rather see them do this than use charter planes or helecopters.

Well, there's often a few MPs on an evening EC out of London, the most I saw in the Restaurant Car on the one journey was three, all sitting seperately, and they haven't sustained a reversal of their policy to cease 'the traditional restaurant car' service. I guess MPs aren't celebs, though.

We do have the Royal Train used for its 'celebrities', though, I recall some of its coaches appeared for a few days in the sidings at Longhoughton (no, you won't find them in the Sectional Appendix) during a period of an amourous relationship which was being withheld from the press.

Almost every MP I know of spends their entire working week in London. They sleep at their second homes and then go back to their real homes on a Friday night. EC, FCC, you name it, you've got a good chance of spotting them.
