In my homeland country, the peoples are much happier. This is despite what the medias tell us about tryant leaders. They speak ill and knows nothing.

I hope we get a stronger old fashion Conservative in the number 10 soon as hard working tax payer is being ripped off.
Give us the gas and let the people have the fruits of their hard works.

Have any of the major political parties made any detailed comment upon this matter? It is Party Conference season at present.

I've not heard anything if they have. They seem more content with bickering within their own parties and having a good old jolly at our expense than in doing anything to get this country growing again.

Yes, everything does. But when you have a proven link between an activity and earthquakes, dangerous chemicals and an impact on the local water supply you should think very carefully indeed about it.

Could you explain the various problems that the injected chemical, dihydrogen monoxide, could cause?

Earthquakes (I'm not going through all that again, that has been explained to you)
Water supplies. Fracking uses millions of gallons per well, and this can have a huge impact where the water tables are low.
Chemicals. Fracking fluid is usually 90% water, 10% propping agents. Some of those have been identified to be biocides, petroleum, carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. There are also about 750 additives to fracking fluid, which can be read about from p41 onwards: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/materials_minerals_pdf/ogdsgeischap5.pdf

OK - gas extraction causes earthquakes, coal and oil cause global warming, wind farms are noisy and unsightly, and as for nuclear..... forget it.

No doubt we'll be living in caves in 100 years..... however I guess NIMBYs will have an objection to that too.

It's odd how being against something automatically makes you a "nimby". I suppose that makes Martin Luther King a bit of a nimby? It's nowhere near my backyard, and it wouldn't affect me in the slightest if they did do it (in fact, I never said they shouldn't - just that it should be thought about carefully). If they can demonstrate that they are taking steps to reduce the chemicals, reduce the risk of seismic activity, and reduce the impact on water supplies then I will be happy. But, so far, they haven't.

Agreed. People are often labelled NIMBY's when they're not actually against a proposal at all, they just want safeguards built in!

Watermelons (green on the outside, red in the middle) would like us all to go back to living like paupers, but the truth is the best thing for the environment is for humans to become wealthy. We become wealthy when we make good use of nature's bounty.

I can't believe no political leader has yet addressed this economic magic bullet.

Perhaps because it's only a magic bullet within the confines of your brain?

To expand, nobody has said it's an intrinsically bad idea, simply that care needs to be taken to ensure it's the right choice when both positive and negative factors are taken into account

Of course, no-one is saying we must be careless about it. Precautions need to be taken in all energy extraction due to the risky nature (with Wind Power having caused most deaths per kWh produced over the last decade or two)

Therefore it can hardly be called a magic bullet. Wind power does cause a fair few fatalities in the avian world but it's an interesting claim you make if you refer to human fatalities, do you have anything to back it up?
