Downloading photo's to forum

How do i download photo's from my desktop? When i go to download a picture it keeps asking for a url?<(

Your terminology is confusing; you'd download a picture from the forum to your computer.

If you wanted to put a picture from your desktop to the forum you'd be uploading it


The latter is available either through the "manage attachments" at the bottom of the main posting section or, alternatively, you may use a file hosting site such as dropbox and then link the URL from there

Ive got some pictures i took the other night, i want to UPLOAD them,but when i do its keeps asking for a url, whars a url?, how do i manage attachments?

A url is a link - http://www.railforums.co.uk is a URL.

An image url is one that ends in a picture "type" such as .jpg , .png
http://www.soldiercity.com/images/products/300PIX/16099_300PIX.JPG is an image URL.

See my attached images for how the attach image function works.


Alternatively you may upload to an image hosting site (I use dropbox but everyone has their own choice - google and see what works for you) and then paste the URL they give you.

For example, the picture I've just uploaded via dropbox has this url: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1177568/IMG_20110917_162624.jpg

and wrapped in an IMG tag [img]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1177568/IMG_20110917_162624.jpg[/img]

Thank you very much for your help, ive found out how you do it now, feel free to have a look under canal tunnels
