hi all, my apologies for posting this question in 2 sections of the forum, wasnt sure if it suited best in the 1st section i posted.
Tomorrow night i'm cheltenham, but a i have a day to kill so was thinking of nipping over to rugby to do a bit of photographing :D As my interest is freight, can anyone tell me what the freight movments are like on fridays at rugby, is there much happening, particularly between 11am and 6pm? Im aware there are weekend restrictions for freight on the WCML but not sure if it includes fridays. I know its short notice but any feedback between now and tomorrow will be greatly appreciated, just not eager of driving the extra mileage for nothing really.
many thanks

All the best :D

In a word, Yes :)

There are quite a few booked movements for Fridays at Rugby. I can't list them but if you are there between 11am and 6pm you will see quite a bit, including 90s a pair of 86s and plenty of Sheds ;)

I would recommend subscribing to Freightmaster, it is worth it if you plan on going out a fair bit. If you'd rather not do that then you could just try joining some GEN groups, those however will only post updates on movements as they happen (and regardless of how good the group is some movements will be missed off).

Happy Hunting.

Hey, thanks for the reply, thats awsum :D so theres alot happening then. Any chance of catching a 92 or 2? Either way sounds like it wont be a waisted trip. unfortionatly, i dont manage to get around mid + northern parts of england very often, once a year if im lucky, due to cost, even in the car so not really worth a subscription. As im in cheltenham tomorrow night and saturday (playing in the brass band national finals at the race course), thorght i might head out early tomoz and head over to rugby or nunneaton, parking in coventry. I did the same this time last year, finals were in harrogate though on the sunday so headed down donny on saturday

Many thanks for the reply again.

All the best

Craig :)

If you head out early (really early) there are two 92s booked to pass around 06:20-06:40 ish. If that is too early then there is only one other booked to run on a Friday and that would be the 4O85 which should pass around 9pm.

Incidentally I am hoping to get the 4O85 when it passes through Manchester after departing Trafford Park. With any luck it will be a 92 (once or twice it has been a 66 or hasn't run).

I've just noticed that there is also one around 7pm.

I love 92s but the thing I have noticed with them is that they don't always run according to plan (had one fail last week - albiet it was rescued by 92031). I managed to bag 92017 running some 6 hours late and nab a few other ones which I wasn't expecting.

FM covers much more than the North and the Midlands, it does cover the South East, South West and well the whole country, like I said though try joining a couple of GEN groups then and you can get up to date info albiet with the occasional drawback (such as my message to report a 60 in Manchester after it had already passed where I was headed...)

Anyway enjoy your day out and good luck with the band finals.

Thanks for the info Phil, unfortionatly i wont be able to leave cardiff until 9:30am, and at 7 + 9pm, il be in rehersals in cheltenham :| so looks like il miss the 92s (unless i get lucky)! I love them too but they seem to be elusive (for me anyways haha) Heres hoping to catching some 86's and 90s instead though which will make my afternoon, or non DBS/ Freighliner Sheds - or just generally anything freighty that doesnt usualy go through cardiff lol.

Il look into FM, sounds like it will be handy to have when ever i can get out n about n gona join a couple of GEN Groups aswell, can u recommend any?

Many thanks once again mate

cheers

There is often a 92 dumped in the old bay platforms on the up side during the day.

GBRf 92s stable during Monday, Wednesday and Friday daytimes after they come off the Dollands Moor-Daventry container.
Thanks, Sam
