Have sat close to someone in a waiting room clipping their fingernails.

Sat opposite a bloke (on the four seat/table arrangement) taking photos of the bald spot on top of his head.

Saw someone once cutting their toenails on the Central line

Saw a woman popping her zits on the DLR in the middle of the evening rush hour a few years ago.

Passengers that are too lazy/vile to take their litter with them, leaving it in their seats.
Had one such experience with tourists in the LNER lounge at Kings X, really took the proverbial with all the free snacks. I cleared up after them to spare staff the inconvenience...

Why is it that the only people who seem to eat on trains are the ones who weren't taught to close their mouth while doing so?

and this includes newspapers.
I use people's discarded newspapers to write down numbers (unless it's a tabloid, in which case I take it home to use in place of the Sainsbury's own-brand). So I guess this particular disgusting habit is one I take advantage of, along with at least one other I can see on the thread.

There was a person on a southern train a few weeks back who was:
On a phone call in speaker mode, eating something with their mouth open, and placing their bare feet on the seats.

Not on a train but on a bus a few days ago. A chap who is a regular traveller and normally does nothing remarkable, but this time was spitting all sorts of muck into a handkerchief. He then leaned over and pressed the bell push in front of me with the handkerchief. For my stop I pushed it with my knee.

How are traincrew to get the day's papers if passengers don't leave them behind?
Indeed. Leaving a folded newspaper behind isn't litter, it's being considerate. It's dieing out sadly, but this was the norm in pubs for many, many decades. If you don't want it, you place it on another table on the train or in the pub, or along the bar for someone else who might.

Free papers cause a remarkable amount of litter - Euston used to gather up several sacks worth , but rarely one of the so-called "quality papers" , trains always got a litter pick but never this amount.

Today I’ve had someone shoving my feet with their crutches (on the four seat/table arrangement)… and now someone yabbering that loudly on their phone right next to me. Where do these people come from?

People who THINK they know a fair bit about railways either current or heritage who then spout in a loud, authoritative voice a load of inaccurate drivel! Although its is usually directed to those they are travelling with they usually make sure most of the carraige at least those in the nearby seats hear.

This isn't just confined to rail travel - similar people can be found on board ships as well. You feel like telling them they are talking a load of b-s but out of politeness you don't. But you get angrier with every factual error they make. :D Why don't they just shut up?

Most I'll do is point out when we are going into a funny platform when I see people going to the "usual" door. One time I had a lovely conversation about the morning disruption without realising she was senior management!
Applying Nail varnish. Had this on my train tonight.
Didn't see anything wrong with this until I remembered the very strong smell. I'd have to move.

Saw someone on a Thameslink service the other day eating some sort of trifle type thing with their fingers. When finished licked their fingers and then wiped them on the seat back.

I've had someone vomit into a bag on a late night train and leave it on the floor for the cleaners....
At least there was a bag !

I've had to ask for a carriage to be taken off the set as it was absolutely filthy.
When I checked tickets leaving the halfway station, none of the mess was present !
I spent quite some time cleaning up a couple of well-used nappies, a load of vomit off the floor & a seat and finally the best part of the contents of a can of coke under another table - spot cleaning the really nasty stuff & a good old mopping for the rest.
I was booked for that same set the next day, and the carriage still honked the following morning - mix of disinfectant and what I had cleaned up, it was left with windows open for some hours before being judged clean & fresh enough for service ...

People with an inability to use headphones, believing the rest of the train want to listen to their sh#@e.

Passengers who eat as if they're trying to dehydrate their food, mouth wide open, with all the sucking and squelch from their gob.

People who try to reserve the seat next to them with a bag. Shift it, or it gets thrown down the aisle.

Worst I witnessed was someone clearly with foot issues peeling pieces of dead skin off the soles of their feet and leaving the pieces on the floor and it stank the area out, I moved further down the carriage grossed out .
