Hey Guys, I'm sure this used to be on the frequently requested diagrams thread but can't find any recent mention of it.

Is there any chance someone could tell me what diagrams on weekdays the 387 is scheduled to operate to/from Cardiff please?

Good to see that those wanting to sample the delights of a 387 ironing board all the way to Cardiff have to pay a full whack Anytime Single fare of £110 if they haven't booked in advance.

I actually prefer the 387 over an IET on that journey; a few times I've ended up on it by accident and it's been a much nicer journey especially if the service is busy.

Cardiff to London or vice versa is a hair under 2 hours, any more than that and it would be uncomfortable, but for 2 hours it's absolutely fine.

I wonder if you did a straw poll of passengers what proportion would say they prefer it?

When I lived in Cardiff and had to travel to Downham Market to collect a bus to bring back, I set off on the first off peak train. It was 1L13. Ride quality at 110mph is not amazing compared to the IETs, but I suppose it beats the fens north of Ely. A very long time to spend on Class 387s.

I definitely take the 387 service if I need to travel from Cardiff to London at that time of the morning. Eight coaches and starting from Cardiff means that the train is less busy than the 0918 or 1018 IETs. There's no First Class on the 387s, so the whole train's usable by standard passengers - an 8 coach 387 service has way more standard seats than the 5-coach IET, and it hasn't started from Swansea so it arrives in Cardiff empty. The seats are a bit hard and there's no catering, but it doesn't make a huge difference to me. But I used to travel long distances on Thameslink (Cambridge-Gatwick...) so I guess I'm used to the seats.
