Can anyone recommend a shockingly bad curry house that will cause a stomach upset and save me a day of annual leave

Depends on the ticket that you hold. If it's an anytime/off-peak (and any of the variations of those) then if there are problems before you travel you could perhaps use the MML instead. If it's an advance then you will need to seek the advice of staff to see if EMT have agreed to to take EC advance ticket holders.

The track of the storm and the warning area has been moved even further south with central Scotland now on the northernmost edge, so North Eastern England could potentially see the worst of it.

But the early indications for Ireland is that the intensity is lower than expected, so unless it winds itself up somewhat (which can happen sometimes) the disruption might not be a severe as predicted.

But the message of check before you travel remains in place.

I'm currently in West Yorkshire and after really nice weather on Friday and Saturday (Saturday evening was uncharacteristically warm) the winds picked up yesterday afternoon and have continued into today

I think this bit of coast line is about to be shown on BBC News at One. Their intro had a live shot of waves splashing up onto a line with OHL equipment.

It was quite bad back then - me and a friend had no idea about the trains issue until we returned to Waverley after getting almost blown down from the castle and finding we couldn't get to Perth!

I've just looked out in our garden and our glass recycling box (complete with some glass!) is across the other side of the garden to where it usually is so the wind is certainly getting up here!

It's not to bad on the East side at the moment. Windy yes but nothing out of the ordinary. The Forth Road Bridge is reporting gusts to 46mph from a sustained 26mph, which is nothing for Scotland.

It's fair blustery in Birmingham today, which has surprised me as it's usually the north and Scotland that takes a hammering and the Midlands is left relatively peaceful (Disregarding the small tornado a couple of years back). There was a good selection of small to medium sized tree branches littering the pavement along Pershore Road this morning.
