Thanks. I used to have Adams' quote about deadlines on my desk at work for years!

What were the names of the 1960's trilogy of Harry Palmer films, based on Len Deighton's novels?

i do like the whooshing noise...
That's the one! :D
The Ipcress File is one, no idea on the others
Correct, the first in the trilogy
Based on my memory of the books it'll be "Ipcress File", "Billion Dollar Brain", "Funeral in Berlin" and possibly "Horse under water"
That's correct.
The three films, in order, were
The Ipcress File (1965)
Funeral in Berlin (1966)
Billion Dollar Brain (1967)

Horse under water may have been a Deighton book, but wasn't part of the 1960s Michael Caine trilogy.

Over to you for the next question.......

Why do you need to be careful about what you say about McCooeys or Dunchers when you stop for a coffee at the first services on the M1 having left London?

Would this be because it is the M1 in Northern Ireland and all sorts of things could cause offence there.

Regarding the previous answer: Harry Saltzman bought the film rights to Horse Under Water, but seems to have lost interest after Michael Caine indicated that he wasn’t interested in continuing as ‘Harry Palmer’. Saltzman appears to have been put off by the problems when Bond changed from Connery to Lazenby.
