Seems there's major disruption on Elizabeth line and Greater Anglia near Romford due to deer on the line.

National Rail saying until end of day! Some long delays. Have a relative trapped on stranded train. Apparently another train hit a deer.

Unfortunately this is something that happens annually in the deer rutting season. It was about this time last year that I was stuck on a train for over two hours after it hit one near Basingstoke.

There's a herd of deer in Harold Wood. They’re known to wander the streets in the housing estate.

AI slop image, nothing like the incident.

Could those who say it is AI explain what they see which leads them to that conclusion. (I am not saying they are wrong.)

For me, the lighting looks off, it looks like the photo was somehow taken from a bush inside the railway fence, and the line near Romford is all quad track but the photo is only double track. It's a good AI photo though - the train livery looks almost perfect and the unit number exists in that class.

The leftmost deer seems to have grown something out of its backside too.

The second deer from the left has its rear right hoof intersecting the rail.

The greateranglia logo is at a jaunty angle. (and the perspective is off)

Also, the window and the black band above the “greateranglia” don’t line up perfectly and aren’t parallel to each other - the bottom of the black band seems to lean at a greater angle, towards the wonky “greateranglia” logo, and the Class 720’s destination display appears to say something like “Dem1” rather than a real destination. There doesn’t appear to be a proper pantograph on the train, and the overhead wires seem to be somehow suspended in mid-air between some OHLE masts and some power poles, with the attachment points in the wrong positions.

Thanks for the replies. I had spotted the missing pantograph. To me, the vegetation looks more spring than autumn.

It simply is AI at a glance. It doesn't look remotely real. I think it's significant that a lot of people are unable to tell this at a glance, and it's no criticism - just interesting that levels of media literacy are so different, that's all.

Thankfully I was travelling between Norwich and Colchester last night and was blissfully unaware. Seems to be two trains hit two separate deer, with a GA Southend train hitting a much larger one. A rescue locomotive had to be brought in though I'm not sure how they managed to couple to the front...

Deers don't just happily stand in a perfect row on the track, looking calmly at the camera, surrounding a train. They look like they've been superimposed on. That I'd say is the main giveaway.

The tracks and rails look plastic, completely unrealistic. If you look down the camera, the detail of the train becomes more compromised, becoming blurred almost like a very detailed painting.

The logos been put on very poorly. The LED display reads a load of nonsense. There are hopper windows on some windows, which aren't existent on 720s. A few details that admittedly most people wouldn't tell.

But overall it's the bright, plasticky look of the overall picture.

All of the above and quite simply, the deer would have legged it as soon as a train came near, let alone hang around while a human is near by taking a photo.

It took far too long for someone to mention it doesnt pass the common sense test. Its not to say the scenario isnt possible, but the odds of that exact scene occuring are miniscule.

I imagine most posts in this thread would be discussing the actual incident if the obviously fake image hadn't been included. There are occasions where double-checking comes in handy and this was one of them.

It’s good that there are plenty of Class 720s to cover when there are incidents like this, where several units have been taken out of service in a short period of time.

It is interesting. I'd barely glanced before my brain sorted it to AI slop.
