Passed, medical booked for a few weeks after, passed again. Contract through, Depot Drivers course at Norwich Nov 16th.

I forgot to ask when interviewed, but I'd think it's not a guaranteed progression. You'll still have to tick a few boxes, good sick record, good work ethic, no incidents etc

I did ask this in my interview, there is no guaranteed progression. Some people will want to remain as depot drivers, the ones that want to progress will need to prove their competence and reliability on the job. Then when a vacancy does eventually come up, apply as they do recruit from within primarily.

That's kinda what I thought, hopefully Depot Driver it's a better way of progressing for those who want to, it will give us a chance to show if we'll be a good fit for the mainline role.

I’ve just received email today that I’ve been successful and now need to do medical. Start date 16th November.

Hi all. Long time reader, first time poster. I’ve been following the Depot > Mainline only developments. Can someone confirm (to the best of their ability) what stations are impacted by this?
I noticed during the latest recruitment advert that Norwich didn’t advertise for mainline drivers but Ipswich did. Is Ipswich impacted?

**Edit: I think I’ve answered my own question as Ipswich (from the looks of it) does not have Depot Drivers.

I can only assume stations which don't already have Depot Drivers will be looked at in the future, to see if it is viable to have a Depot Driver role implemented. From a company perspective it would make financial sense, if it frees up Mainline Drivers to carryout more mainline work whilst the depot work is carried out at a lower pay scale. Again I cne can only assume that as public ownership increases, the need for efficiency savings will increase but hopefully not to the detriment to staff and passengers. Time will tell.

They'll tell you unofficially there but it's not official until they send their report off to GA and GA confirm it. When I say confirm it, they send you a job offer and contract etc, that took about a week.
