Hope the mods are happy, but thought it would be good idea to have a thread for all the items at the Berlin exhibition in 2 weeks time.

Hitachi have announced 4 cars of a Frecciarossa 1000 (executive, business class, bistro, VIP car). They will also have a new BEMU in hall 4.2

Alstom have announced a Coradia Stream intercity, A Traxx universal locomotive, a new frameless bogie

Siemens have said will have Vectron X locomotive, Mireo for OBB Austria long distance services, battery Mireo Plus B, Piccadilly line Inspiro

Stadler will have a battery regional train and a narrow gauge hydrogen train

Hyundai-Rotem will bring a EMU-320, Korean high speed train

Hopefully more will be revealed soon

Skoda has second generation BEMU for Czech Railways (where only about third of network is electrified - which sounds rather like UK)

But is rather unlike the UK in that they have electrified virtually all their mainlines. Effectively the Czechs have never had the equivalent of a Beeching, so there's a lot of branchlines which make up a large proportion of the route mileage.

They certainly don't have stupidities like wiring the MML or GWML to some random spot part way down the line.

I don't get why low cost carriers insist on garish colours. DSB and DB show how the Talgo can be made into a nice train (purely in terms of interior - making no judgment on its mechanical performance). The Flixtrain version just screams cheap and nasty.

It's a cheap way to get brand recognition. Look at how synonymous orange is the with Easy brand.

You can still have a classy seat moquette and interior panelling with lime highlights. There's also that dreaded 11-rows-to-5-windows seating layout. Just awful.

It’s what keeps the fares down - more seats = more revenue. And Flix is about price rather than anything else. If you want more comfort you pay more for a DB ICE.

In principle getting more seats in doesn't have to mean awful window alignment.

Of course it does if you're buying a coach designed for a greater seat pitch and don't want to pay for the design to be modified.
