I'm hearing from a friend tomorrow will see 10 car 810s in service, I doubt it but keep an eye out
An update from Neil Grabham, Interim Managing Director
There are encouraging signs of continued progress across our Intercity services, with fleet availability improving and punctuality increasing by around 2 - 3% last week compared with the previous week, particularly on our Sheffield services.
Importantly, since we increased the timetable to 92% of the full Intercity service on 1 September, fleet availability has consistently met or exceeded the requirements needed to deliver the timetable. This gives us greater confidence to begin planning the next step towards our timetable restoration, with our next phased proposed increase taking the service to 96% of the full timetable.
However, we recognise that performance is not yet where we want it to be. Cancellations remain a challenge and the impact of previous hot weather on track quality, alongside associated speed restrictions, continues to affect punctuality. We are working closely with Network Rail to prioritise the work needed to address these issues, while continuing to work with Hitachi to improve fleet reliability.
We are also continuing to explore options to strengthen the Intercity fleet, including the potential to lease additional trains, which could provide greater resilience as we work towards restoring the full timetable.
There is still more to do, but the continued improvement in fleet availability and punctuality is a positive step forward. Our focus remains on building a reliable and sustainable service, and we will keep our customers and stakeholders informed as we take the next steps towards restoring the full Intercity timetable.
014 is the one missing the driving car, and the other should be 017, both undergoing dilaps. I don't believe anything else has been removed from service yetThere's a pair of 222s currently at Etches Park on hand back works, couldn't see which. One debranded and shiny, the other missing a driving car and having bodywork repairs.
Highly doubtfulI'm hearing from a friend tomorrow will see 10 car 810s in service, I doubt it but keep an eye out
The bit about looking to lease additional trains will I suspect be the 6x 221s that have been reported by several mags to be going there on a short-term basis ahead of joining the other 221s at XC.EMR's latest update has just been issued to Stakeholders this morning, see; https://eastmidlandsrailway.newswea...xnlw1f3wzioz?lang=en&a=6&p=13337927&t=4918378
It's long so the most important bit is here, but there's more.
Already under discussion in the corresponding speculative thread. The bit about looking to lease additional trains will I suspect be the 6x 221s that have been reported by several mags to be going there on a short-term basis ahead of joining the other 221s at XC.
All the 10 coach services are 222s today. It's a Corby diversion day with a reduced 1tph on each route.I'm hearing from a friend tomorrow will see 10 car 810s in service, I doubt it but keep an eye out
I assume the usual “diesel only” rule is still being applied to the Corby diversion days. Noticed a couple of 810s in diesel through Bedford earlier. All the 10 coach services are 222s today. It's a Corby diversion day with a reduced 1tph on each route.
it didn't "sit down", it was sent back to the depot and replaced by 810014. Not sure why810012 sat down at Notts earlier today, not sure what the issue was but it seemed to have the rest of its diagram covered by a 222 as far as I could tell
I was on 012 on Saturday 1202 from Nottingham, it ran mostly without problem, but did notice the charging point stopped working and no hot water for drinks on last run of drinks in 1st class around Corby Kettering area.810012 sat down at Notts earlier today, not sure what the issue was but it seemed to have the rest of its diagram covered by a 222 as far as I could tell
Ah ok thanks, when I arrived at the station I saw a ‘FAIL’ code on the map where it was on the platform so presumed there was an issue with it.it didn't "sit down", it was sent back to the depot and replaced by 810014. Not sure why
No boxes ticked by Hitachi for the Nottingham service. As if I read your post right the original service from London failed on route and did not reach Nottingham.Went for a relaxing trip around the scenic route today.
My planned outward journey from Wellingborough was the 09.52 Nottingham, 810016 expired in the down slow platform 'problem with the brakes'
Return journey intended to be the 13.15 from Loughborough which never left Sheffield, 'Problem with the doors' on 810012
Pseengers from Sheffield didn't have a great deal of luck; later 810014 had a 'problem with its doors'
Curiously to me, passengers intending to travel to Nottingham on the 09.52 were told to wait until the next Nottingham at 11.11.There was a Sheffield at 10.22 but passengers were told that here was no connection off that for Nottingham. However, I caught the 10.22 Sheffield (for Loughborough) and somewhere between Melton and Syston there was an announcement that a special train for Nottingham would be waiting at Loughborough. Which there was, 810013. So the service left St Pancras and arrived at Nottingham, so that's all right then. Box ticked by Hitachi ???

If the performance regime/contract is how it should be, that is a failure on Hitachi's part to fulfil a service.
It's irrelevant that another unit was provided to work from Loughborough into Nottingham.
