I've had a quick look but haven't found anything - what type of seat do Avanti use in Standard? I thought they were FISA Leans but looking at interior walkthroughs of the 805s and refurbished Voyagers they're clearly different seats. I have never been on a Voyager so I have no idea what the new Leans are like (and I haven't been on any other trains that have them), but I use the 805s/807s relatively often and really like the seats. They remind me of those white plastic garden chairs in the best way possible; they're hard but weirdly comfortable. Hopefully they're not an exclusive design so that other trains can use them; they're so much better than the Fainsa seats in the IETs.

I don’t think so. The refurbished Voyagers use FISA Leans - as do the 805s and 807s in first, but not standard.

Unless the OP means the refurbished voyagers on XC in making their comparison with the seats found on the Avanti units

This is what I understood their post to mean. Avanti’s Voyager refurbishment didn’t change the seat type.

I think we need clarity from OP as to what they are actually asking on this one as Avanti haven't operated Voyagers for a couple of years now and never changed the seats when they gave them a light refresh.
The refurbished Voyagers with XC are nothing to do with Avanti.

I think the meaning is reasonably clear. They know that the seats used on XC’s refurbished Voyagers are FISA Leans, and as these are different to the seats used on the 805s in standard class they had ruled these out as the model now used on Avanti trains.
They have now had their answer above!
The initial question was fairly obvious, what sort of seats are fitted to the Avanti fleet, but referencing 805s and Voyagers in the same sentence just muddies the waters.

I'll try to explain it. I hope it doesn't sound patronising but if it does, know it's not meant to.

So the reason he's bringing up Voyagers, is NOT because Avanti used to have them.
But because he knows they (the refurbished ones) have FISA Lean.
Therefore he knows, because he can see they're different -- that the Avanti seats (as in 805) are NOT FISA Lean.
Basically, he wondered if the Avanti seats were FISA Lean, so he took a picture of a train interior he KNEW had FISA Lean (in this case a refurbished XC 220, but could have very well chosen a 458/4, etc. same thing), put it alongside an Avanti 805 with the mystery seats, saw they were clearly different, and deduced the Avanti seats were indeed, not FISA Lean.
I get what OP was asking, after reading the post a couple of times, but the fact that you've had to post this just emphasises my previous point that bringing up other TOC's fleets just muddies the waters.

Ah yes. I'll grant you that saying "refurbished Voyagers" when talking about Avanti, gives the impression it refers to Avanti's former 221101-118/142/143 which they refreshed, as opposed to CrossCountry's refurbished 220s. Possibly should have said "CrossCountry's refurbished Voyagers."

Yes, I'm a big fan of these too. That little bit better than the similarly shaped Grammer IC3000 which was used on the GWR and ScotRail HSTs.

I've not sat on them in Voyagers but in other applications I find they are quite hard, and the shape of the back leads to poor legroom unless you have skinny legs where it's comfortable to have your knees pushed together into the niche.
I'd definitely say the Transcal was markedly better than the LEAN. Certainly better than the infamous Fainsa Sophia too!

The LEAN is very firm... I'd say it's like a cross between a Grammar 444 style seat and a Fainsa Sophia - but I think the first class option is horrible. Hard and uncomfortable.
I'd also definitely say the Transcal is markedly better than the LEAN.

Agreed. I think seating is highly subjective as I am personally a fan of the same FISA Lean seats in CrossCountry's refurbished first class. I have however heard many complaints!

Absolutely is subjective, yes. Cannot say for a fact that a seat is uncomfortable. I personally find it disappointing though, perhaps because I enjoy the Pendolino's Antonin seating.
