Ok thanks, noticed both 014 and 017 have been out since April according to RailRecord, so presumed it to be one of the 2.
It's 017. 104 is already at Litchurch Lane

A pretty dire service this evening. 222101, 103 and 018 have all been taken out of service, due to faults.

810018 also failed this afternoon and that's with just 5 810s in use, 4 now. Not great all round.

Currently a 2 hour gap from London for Sheffield. 20:32-22:32.

I have a list of 222s that may have been removed from service, there are 4 of them so far, 222007/014/017/104, is this accurate or are there more that have been pulled?

Just had a look at RTT and 12 222s are in service right now plus 6 810s although one of those has failed.

It's a been the sick one for as long as I can remember to be honest.
It's only been out of use for a week or so. It failed with engine issues

I had 007 on the back of a service from Sheffield on 8th September, it was locked OOU, and appeared to be on only 2 engines.

It reminds me of the formula we had to recite in almost every exam: 360 ÷ seconds per 100 metres = km/h.
However, the maximum permitted speed without a speedometer was limited to 120 km/h. Nowadays, in most cases, there is a second speedometer on a different screen.
I guess it depends if they get their data from the same sensor... You could simply just a phone or other GPS device, but I don't suppose that would have the necessary safety case!
Still no idea where the train is going, we were told on the 1702 that all 10 cars would carry on to Sheffield, but the on train staff haven't been told anything other than the original destination of Derby.
If that is the case it will mean 90 minutes between service from London to Sheffield over the evening peak...

222010 has failed at Derby on the 04:37 Sheffield - St Pancras.
Failed at Alfreton. 5Z05 is on the freight loop now

Presumably without pax on board? RTT seems to indicate it didn't quite make Alfreton?
How do EMR actually recover units? My experience seems to be they wait for the next service to arrive and drag it back that way, but it looks like this is the only 222 which passes Alfreton normally.
Edit: Looks like 1C13 will pass very late on tonight, which looks like a positioning move to get units back to Etches Park. Can three 222s couple up, or are they limited to pairs?
It was termianted at Alfreton station 55 late with pax presumably having to get the next Nottingham service to connect for London
I would assume a 222 may be sent after close of service so that no other services are affected? Or maybe there's a speed restriction to the unit that requires it to be moved during the night?
I don't think a 222 triple unit has happened before, but I have seen two 7 cars coupled as a rescue move (and I believe in the early days a 9+4 rescue move occurred once)

No need in this case, it'll be coming back to Etches on own but at 20mph max.

It may be possible - Virgin tested 4x 220 sets on the ECML in 2001 - 16 coaches, 12,000hp!

They also ran 15 car 221s in service during the Euston blockades.
XC also have a booked triple voyager ecs move, usually 2x 220 & 1 221
