Thanks

I think it’s all for depot driver very wrong to have changed it half way through

Not telling people until interview etc

But why interview people for depot driver if they are already depot driver?

Is there mainline drivers needed at all?

Who knows!!
Yes agreed it is very naughty,
However I do have a couple of friends at GA who are at Cambridge and said they are in desperate need for Mainline so who knows what the crack is,

I will just focus on tomorrow and see what will happens with my stage 2! Then we go step by step! ,

Just a heads up, for whoever has an upcoming DMI in Cambridge.. they are renovating the JSOP building and there are temporary port a cabins in the car park under the bridge. I struggled to find it today before my interview. I got told the wrong directions from a member of staff at the station but luckily another told me about the port a cabins when I went back in.

Thats not what you need when heading to interview!! Thanks for the info, I'm waiting for a Cambridge DMI offer after passing Stage 1 at the end of August but not needing Stage 2 as previously passed it. Hopefully I get an invite soon, can you tell me how much notice you had for your DMI from when you got invited, I am hoping just a few weeks?

No it wasn’t I was panicking that I’d be late which wouldn’t have looked very good! I got an email to book DMI and the interview was 2 weeks from that. Well done on passing and wish you the best for your upcoming DMI

If your facing Cambridge Station front entrance the Ibis hotel is on your left, walk in that direction under the pedestrian footbridge , you will see the JSOP building in the corner of the car park and the Portacabins are directly outside, you will definitely see them

Does anyone know whether the 39k salary is for training or is that the qualified salary for the depot role. Also any idea what the enhancements are for GA. It is weird cause when I applied it was for mainline and when I got there it was for Depot. Is that the route now for everyone for comes externally?.

So looks like the 39k is starting that’s what I have email saying, but don’t know anything on progression of pay

I believe it will be just shy of £47k basic for depot drivers from 1/4/2027. £39k starting salary during training

Can I ask what sort of questions you get at the dmi? Is it similar to mmi with 'what would you do' type questions or just more general questions about you?
I hate to be this person, but I will anyway, you’re going for a highly sought after role, where only 1-3% of applicants reach this stage. You are up against exceptional people.
The psychometric stage wasn’t competitive, it was essentially you against yourself. The DMI on the other hand is your time to shine, if you really want it, you will scour the internet and the forums, and obtain whatever resources are out there to help you prepare.

I understand I’ve not answered your questions, but many have poured hours, days and weeks into preparing themselves for every stage of this process. I would strongly suggest you do the same.

I’d actually say that asking questions on a forum like this is part of doing your homework. When I was going through the process, I found that speaking to people who had already been through it was one of the most useful ways of preparing- surely that’s what this forum is for?

Obviously you need to put the hours in yourself and understand the material, but there’s nothing wrong with asking questions and learning from other people’s experiences. In fact, I’d say knowing when to ask for advice is a pretty important quality as a driver.

Everyone prepares for the Dmi differently, and just because someone is asking questions here doesn’t mean they aren’t putting the work in behind the scenes. If anything, they’re using another resource available to them, one that’s all about the role the are apply for.
